| Spain's Marc Gasol, who is enjoying his most successful NBA season ever with the Memphis Grizzlies, told members of the press today that he had not expected to form part of this weekend's All-Star Game in Orlando, but that he was looking forward to the experience.
Gasol said he was very "happy" with his team's performance in the league so far this season, despite the injury worries they've had to deal with and the lack of time to rest and train between matches.
The impressive performance of both Gasol and his team this season led to him being chosen by fans and coaches to form part of the Western Conference's All-Star team for Sunday's game. It is the first time he has been selected for the prestigious match and he admitted it came as something of a surprise.
"No, I wasn't expecting it at all, it's something special, something unique", commented the Catalan player, adding that his priority was still the league.
When asked about rumours regarding brother Pau's future with the LA Lakers, Marc admitted he did not know what was going to happen, whether the team was going to trade his brother or not. He did, however, express his concern over the situation saying it was "difficult for anyone to deal with" and hoped it would be decided "soon". Pau played for the All-Star Team as a rookie in 2006 and was then selected three years in a row from 2009-2011. |
