| A man was arrested in A Coruña yesterday afternoon minutes after throwing acid in the faces of three children and a woman who were waiting at a bus stop in the city.
The two little girls injured in the attack have been allowed home from hospital after being treated for burns to the face and neck. Their mother, who has acid burns to her airways, has been kept in hospital as a precaution.
The third child is also still in hospital with first and second-degree burns to his face and eyes. His condition is thought to be serious, but not life threatening.
The unprovoked attack occurred at around 14:15 hours yesterday. Without even saying a word to his victims, the man suddenly appeared and threw the acid over them as they waited at the bus stop. He then ran away but was arrested minutes later in the immediate vicinity of the attack. The exact chemical composition of the acid is being analysed by police experts.
An investigation into the attack is underway and police believe that the perpetrator could be suffering from some kind of psychological disorder. The man was unknown to his victims and there does not appear to be anything linking him to them. |
