A MAN who shot his African neighbour in has been arrested in Águilas (Murcia), according to Guardia Civil officers.
A. N. N., of gypsy descent, reportedly opened fire on 37-year-old A.K., from the Gambia – now part of Sénégal – just before 20.00hrs on Friday on the C/ Cuesta del Calvario in Cuevas del Almanzora (Almería).
He was then caught just north of the scene of the crime over the border into the next region at 23.00hrs the same night.
In the meantime, the injured man was taken to the La Inmaculada hospital in Huércal-Overa (Almería), but died shortly after his arrival.
Residents of the neighbourhood where the crime took place, near the castle, say that although numerous nationalities live in the area, there is never any conflict between them.
They believe the victim and the killer had previously had 'various problems' with each other for some time, thought to relate to the payment of rent on a property.
