| A RAGING inferno close to a residential area in the province of Valencia has forced 353 members of the armed forces to intervene.
The flames broke out in Llocnou de Sant Jeroni (Valencia) around yesterday at noon, and are spreading fast towards the towns of La Font d’En Carròs, Villalonga, and Ador.
Already, 85 people have been evacuated from their homes, mostly on the Monte Corona urbanisation in Villalonga and many from a youth hostel who were on a school trip.
A total of 350 firefighters, 18 fire engines, and 19 hydroplanes are working around the clock to bring the flames under control.
The fire continues to rage and ash is raining down as far away as Oliva and Pego (Alicante).
