TENNIS ace Rafa Nadal has announced he will not be playing at the London Olympics this month, much to the disappointment of millions of Spanish fans.
“I'm just not up to it,” the Mallorca-born world number two told reporters.
Rafa, who was due to be the flag-carrier for Spain, is bitterly disappointed at missing out on this once-in-a-lifetime chance and calls it 'one of the saddest days of my life'.
The 'man from Manacor' has not yet recovered sufficiently from a recent knee injury and despite every effort to get himself back on form, Rafa says he is not playing to full strength.
“I have to think of the rest of the team – I can't be selfish', Rafa announced.
Feliciano López will take Rafa's place on the team, and the flag will be carried by basketball star Pau Gasol. |
