| Six million foreign tourists visited Spain last month, 4.7% more than in June 2011 and the best results for the past three years, thanks mainly to the number of German and British vititors.
According to the latest data published by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, 269,000 more tourists came to Spain in June 2012 than in the same month the previous year.
Once again, the Balearic Islands were the most popular destination for foreign tourists, with a 5% increase in foreign visitors compared with last June.
In the first half of the year, 25.1 million foreign tourists visited Spain - a 2.9% increase on the same period last year.
The highest year-on-year increase in the number of tourists from one country was registered by the UK, with 120,000 or 8% more tourists coming from there to Spain than in 2011, making a total of 1.6 million, whilst the number of German tourists increased by 4.5%, taking the total to over a million and continuing a four-month upward trend. |
