FOUR men and a woman, all Irish nationals have been arrested in Benidorm for beating a man up on the street.
They were in the district known as the 'English zone', between C/ Mallorca and C/ Lepanto, at around 21.30hrs on Saturday night when a brawl broke out.
Witnesses say at least 10 people chased after a Moroccan man and punched him repeatedly, as well as glassing him with a broken ashtray.
The victim suffered serious neck and facial injuries as a result.
As yet, the reason for the attack is unknown.
Police confirm that five tourists from the Republic of Ireland, aged between 18 and 47, are helping with inquiries.
