| The pilot of a Spanish air force F5 fighter plane has died this morning and another person has been injured in an accident close to the Talavera la Real air base in Badajoz this morning.
The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that the other person injured when the two-seater F5 crashed, was a student under instruction from the pilot. No information about the severity of his injuries has been released, but it is known that he has suffered multiple traumas and his condition is being stabilised in the intensive care unit at the Hospital Infanta Cristina in Badajoz
The Spanish air force considers the F5 to be the ideal teaching plane for the Escuela de Talavera la Real and is currently investigating the accident. Initial hypotheses suggest there was an engine failure. The F5 has ejector seats and Ministry of Defence investigators whether the pilot and his student had time to activate them. |
