| COSTA del Sol streets have been sizzling this week as the British god of football David Beckham filmed scenes for a TV advert for Adidas.
The celebrity-studded city of Marbella (Málaga province) has roads cordoned off and tight security during the shoot, but those who think they have spotted Becks from afar may have been disappointed.
Parts of the advert were shot using body doubles, since the former England captain would have been too busy to sit around between takes for hours on end.
He arrived at the set yesterday at 13.30hrs wearing dazzling electric-blue trainers, a matching lycra top and black flares, inside sources reveal.
But beyond that, all those involved are sworn to secrecy over the contents of the advert and its filming process.
Wife Victoria was not with him, although far from being a shrinking violet in the public eye, the former Spice Girl has recently given an interview to Elle magazine.
In it, she says she has always felt as though she faded into the background.
“When I was with the Spice Girls, I got the impression everyone was there to see the other four perform and not me,” says the singer, self-deprecatingly.
“And when I married David and everyone took photos of us, I knew they were really hoping to get shots of him.
“But now I feel a sense of belonging in the world of fashion.”
Victoria, a trained dancer whose solo singing career never really made the mark – despite her first single hitting number 2 in the UK charts, a duet with Dane Bowers, having been pipped at the post by Groovejet and former indie band member Sophie Ellis Bextor – has now turned her hand to designing clothes.
Her signature skinny jeans and mono-colour, '60s-style tunic dresses have proven a hit, and she was a candidate for designing the Duchess of Cambridge's wedding dress, an honour that finally went to Sarah Burton of the late Alexander McQueen's fashion house. |
