| TWO men have lost their lives in the latest 'kamikaze driver' incident involving a motorist travelling down a main road in the wrong direction.
Guardia Civil officers received numerous calls at around midnight on Friday when a man was seen driving down the A-49 near Bollullos Par del Condado (Huelva province), but by the time they got there, he had already caused a head-on collision.
The 'kamikaze' driver, aged 34, smashed into a car driven in the right direction by a man of 55, both of whom were killed instantly.
Police and firefighters had to cut the bodies free from the wreckage and close the motorway for several hours until the remains of the cars could be removed.
This is the second head-on smash in one day, with two people being killed and six injured on the N-340 through the province of Almería two-and-a-half hours earlier.
Two boys aged 16 and 18 suffered serious injuries, a 32-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were moderately wounded and another adult and a baby escaped with minor damage.
All six were taken to Torrecárdenas hospital in Almería city.
Another two people, details of whom have not been revealed, lost their lives instantly in the impact of the collision. |
