'Brugal Case' MP spends parliament meeting clipping his nails

A LEADING politician was caught cutting his fingernails during an important financial seminar in Parliament this week. Luis Díaz Alperi, MP for Valencia for the PP, had switched off during a presentation by regional minister for the economy Máximo Buch, and started clipping his nails under the table. When he was caught, he hid the nail-clippers sheepishly, say those present. A number of Díaz Alperi's colleagues reprimanded him for inappropriate behaviour both in public and during a major parliamentary meeting. The MP is among those under questioning in the 'Brugal Case', another money-laundering and corruption trial. This is not the first time he has put his foot in it during a parliamentary gathering – on one occasion he fell asleep with his head on the table, and on another, fell off his chair due to a problem with its wheels. Díaz Alperi hit the headlines recently for calling for 'more TLC' for those thought to be involved in various corruption and money-laundering scams, including the Bárcenas slush-fund trial, the Brugal and Gürtel cases.
