'Pro-paedophilia' poster withdrawn from Barcelona bus-stop billboard
13/02/2014
BUS stop advertising bosses are investigating a poster which seems to promote paedophilia that has been pinned up in Barcelona.
JCDécaux, the firm which maintains billboards in bus shelters, says the one near the iconic Sagrada Familia cathedral (pictured) recently featured a poster calling for 'abuse-free child pornography'.
PR manager for the billboard company Alberto Carrillo says unknown individuals had unlocked the glass frame in the bus shelter on the corner of C/ Mallorca and C/ Marina and pinned up a poster showing a semi-naked little girl under the word 'Freedom' in large capital letters.
The advert said: “Send us naked photos of when you were a child. For child pornography without abuse.”
It finished with the slogan: “+18 Yes to Paedophilia – No to Abuse.”
Barcelona city council was advised about the poster by local newspaper Ara, and they in turn contacted JCDécaux ordering them to remove it.
Carrillo says all bus stops in the city have been checked to make sure no other posters not put up by the billboard company are on display.
He reveals that the lock on the glass frame in the bus shelter near the cathedral had not been forced, but had been sealed up with silicone which was still fresh, suggesting the poster had not been there for very long.
Opening the glass screen in front of the bus-stop billboards requires a bespoke skeleton key which only JCDécaux manufactures and which is not available to anyone outside the firm.
Posters have sometimes been sellotaped to the outside of the screen, but never fitted inside so as to look like an official advert, stresses Carrillo.
Both JCDécaux and Barcelona city council have opened an inquiry with a view to taking legal action against whoever was responsible for the unfortunate poster.
