THE world's most-consulted élite spa hotel guide now features six luxury resorts in Spain among its total of 71 for the 2016 edition – twice as many as for the year before.

Condé Nast Johansens Luxury Spas 2016 features top-ranking destinations as diverse as Sri Lanka and the Channel Islands, of which 16 are new additions this year.

Celebrity favourite SHA Wellness Clinic in Albir, Alicante province (pictured below right), on the east coast of the mainland, appears along with the Barceló Asia Gardens Hotel & Thai Spa in the Cala de Finestrat, about 15 minutes south of Albir and close to Benidorm.

The Canary Islands have four select spa resorts in this year's publication – the Bohemia Suites & Spa in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real in Corralejo, Fuerteventura; Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque Resort, in the Costa Adeje area of Tenerife; and Hotel Botánico & The Oriental Spa Garden in Puerto de la Cruz, also in Tenerife (pictured above left).

Condé Nast Johansens , which comes from the same publishers as Vogue, GQ, Condé Nast Traveller and Glamour magazines, is read by over 5.5 million worldwide and features destinations in 62 countries.

Along with Spain, Sri Lanka and the UK (Channel Islands), the luxury spa guide covers resorts in Thailand, the Philippines, the Maldives, China, Switzerland, and Indonesia.
