CANARY Island shoe designer Manolo Blahnik has joined forces with Barbados-born R&B artist Rihanna to create a capsule collection inspired by the latter's hand tattoos.

Titled Denim Desserts, the six designs include over-the-knee boots – which the artist herself describes as 'dangerous' – and high-heeled shoes, all made from denim with embroidered decorations.

Blahnik was impressed by the singer's flair for shoe design, and was quoted as saying: “Her determination, passion, creativity and style are reflected in her creations with absolutely fabulous results – everyone will adore what they are about to see.”

The creations, due to be launched on May 5, will cost between US$895 and US$3,995.

Rihanna has also recently been named creative director of the trainer brand Puma, and appears to have taken to the world of footwear design like a duck to water.
