REAL Madrid FC's Cristiano Ronaldo has beaten Barça forward Lionel 'Leo' Messi to Best FIFA Men's Player Award for the second consecutive year.
Striker Ronaldo has already netted four Ballons d'Or, which is now a separate award from the FIFA Best Player.
Messi has won five Ballon d'Or awards.
He and ex-FC Barcelona forward Neymar, who has recently transferred to Paris-Saint Germain (PSG), were runners-up for the Best FIFA Men's Player, who is chosen by votes from fans, national team captains and coaches, and the media.
Portuguese national team captain Ronaldo helped Real Madrid to a Champions' League and La Liga victory this season, and to holding onto its European Cup thanks to his strikes against Juventus.
Real are the first team to win the European Cup twice in a row in its new form.
Ronaldo's team-mates Marcelo, Sergio Ramos, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, whilst Neymar and his colleague Dani Alvés and Messi and his fellow Barça player Andrés Iniesta made it to the FIFA best 11 male players of the year, along with AC Milan's Leonardo Bonucci and Juventus' Gianluigi 'Gigi' Buffon – and, of course, Ronaldo himself.
Yesterday's (Monday's) awards ceremony turned out to be a bumper evening for Real Madrid, since its coach, Zinedine 'Zizou' Zidane took the Manager of the Year trophy for having guided the premier league side through three major titles this season.
Buffon won Best Goalkeeper, and striker Olivier Giroud took the Puskas Award for Best Goal of the Year, scored for Arsenal against Crystal Palace.
Best FIFA Women's Player of the Year went to Dutch national Lieke Martens, and The Netherlands' national team manager Sarina Wiegman's role in getting her side through to victory in the Euro this season earnt her Best FIFA Women's Coach.
