Feminist association demands higher profile for equality politics

The Feminist Network Against Gender Violence today expressed their satisfaction for the decision by Andalusian regional president, Manuel Chaves, to create a council for Equality in the regional government, and demanded that the central government rises the level of the areas in charge of promoting equality of opportunities.

After congratulating the new socialist government for promising to pass a law against gender violence, various women’s organisations reminded the PSOE that “dealing with the disastrous inheritance of the PP in this area involves the necessary creation of new administrative infrastructure to raise the profile of equality politics”.
