Santander Local Police arrested a 56 year old man on the 16th April suspected of pocketing a purse left behind by a woman at a cashpoint machine which contained her identity card, and €630 in cash. The woman reported the loss on the 5th April after losing her purse three days previously and being unable to find it when she went back later to check. Local Police investigations led them to suspect a 56 year old man, who, when initially questioned, claimed that he had handed the purse to one of the bank´s security guards, which was later proven to be untrue. The man has been released, but has been charged and faces a court appearance.
