A 45 year old Local Police officer based in Avilés was taken into custody on Wednesday suspected of killing a hairdresser, Alfredo Fernández Alonso, back in 1999. The incident occurred on the 29th April when the 58 year old victim was found dead at his home. He had obviously been attacked; the body was found in a large pool of blood, had a plastic bag over his head, and a rope tied around his neck, although the autopsy later revealed that the man had died as a result of several blows to the back of the head with a heavy blunt instrument. Detectives found a message on a mirror written in lipstick; "This is for messing with other men´s wives."
