| The director of the ‘Alicia’ Nutrition and Science Centre Foundation, Toni Massanés, today presented the foundation’s plans to become a centre for culture and gastronomic investigation. The president of the foundation’s assessor council, Ferran Adrià (pictured), who is considered the best chef in the world, expressed “the necessity of making the most of the good moment Catalan gastronomy is going through for Cataluña to become the worldwide vanguard on the issue of nutritional investigation… as chefs we must become involved in this project because we have a commitment to society”.
The Alicia Centre Foundation wants Cataluña to lead the world in cooking innovation with the help of chefs such as Adrià, who was the first cook ever to open a gastronomic investigation laboratory to discover and apply new techniques to the world of cooking. The project consists of four elements: investigation, formation of new chefs by collaboration with universities, schools and other education centres, international diffusion of the Catalan brand and developing a social project with the help of Non-governmental Organisations.
