It is thought that heavy rain over the last few days caused the collapse of a wall yesterday on a building site in the village of Villanueva de los Infantes (Ciudad Real) which killed two construction workers instantly.

According to local government sources, the accident happened at 1.30pm when the two men were carrying out renovation and reconstruction work on an old building at the crossroads between the callejón de La Tejera and the calle Milagrosa.

Both victims, 38 year old José González González, and 54 year old Miguel Fernández de Sevilla Torrijos, were married with two children. Their funerals will take place this afternoon at San Andrés church following autopsies, which have been carried out at Valdepeñas morgue.
