| Pamplona Town Hall will ban people who display obvious reckless behaviour from bull-running in the San Fermín fiestas this year. This way, the local government hopes to stop people who take part “just to get in the photo”. This decision was made public today by Citizen Protection councillor Eradio Ezpeleta, who presented the local campaign to inform people about the rules of the festivities.
Some prohibitions are touching or taunting the bulls, running with cameras and/or rucksacks, or making problems for the correct development of the race. However, the greatest problem highlighted by regular runners is the excessively large numbers of participants, which rise to 3.500 on festive days.
In the words of Ezpeleta, “bull-running is a dangerous activity, where participants put their lives in danger, and by running inadequately they can increase the risk for others”.
