Tree disappears at night

A British couple living in Moraira were astonished to find that their Jacaranda tree had been stolen only three days after they had bought it. KH, from Moraira, told The CB Friday that she and her husband had carefully chosen and paid 110 euros for a Jacaranda tree to plant at the front of their garden. “We bought it from Paichi garden centre in Moraira and the company came up and planted it and told us to water it. “Obviously its roots were still only small and we’d been watering it every day but on the third day it had just disappeared in the night.” The tree had been planted on the front part of their garden away from their bedroom so they didn’t hear the lorry come and take it away. “They must have had to use something quite big to move it as it was a very tall tree.” The couple, who live in Baladrar, were astonished that anyone would take the trouble to come and steal a tree in the middle of the night. They reported the matter to the Guardia Civil who told them they’d keep a look out for a tree. “They seemed to think it was a joke, it’s not very funny from where we are. What is it coming to round here, do we have to chain our trees to poles now?”
