Benicàssim Blues Festival Free: New addition to seaside town's mudbath music fame
The FIB festival, which will be held between July 12 and 15 this year, is a Mecca for thousands of music-lovers who set up camp there for days on end.
Benicàssim's lesser-known festivals include Rototom Sunsplash, a Reggae event which will take place between August 16 and 22, and Costa de Fuego, which has already seen the likes of Guns 'n' Roses and Marilyn Manson perform.
Now, the Benicàssim Blues Festival Free – an unmissable date for fans of Blues music, as the name suggests – is set to take over the holiday town every spring.
A total of 12 bands have confirmed that they will be participating in the festival, to be held between June 1 and 3, although the names have not yet been revealed in case any drop out at the last minute.
The concerts will take place in the Plaza de la Estación, C/ Santo Tomás, and the Plaza de la Constitución, all of which are right in the town centre.
About 5,000 fans are expected to turn up.
The other three festivals take place in huge fields on the outskirts of the town, although the Blues Festival Free will be held in the centre to encourage tourists to get to know the area better.
Further details of artists, ticket prices and camping facilities will be revealed in the next few weeks.
