Olivia goes to Mini Hollywood
It was August and we were staying at a wonderful hotel called “Iberostar Málaga Playa”, in Torrox-Costa, Málaga.
We all wanted to go out of the hotel and go somewhere, so my father thought we could go to Mini Hollywood. Everybody liked the idea so we went - my Mom, Dad, sister, Granddad and me. But first we had to rent a car. The journey was two hours and it was very hot and we all felt a little bit ill by the time we arrived.
When we arrived, we could not find a parking place so we had to squeeze the car in next to a little outhouse. The queue was very long and we were all very thirsty. As my dad was at the counter, my sister and I looked at the lovely view
As we walked through the first bit of the Mini Hollywood, we took loads of photos. At the entrance there were two large cannons.
The first thing you could see was the CITY BANK, then we walked through the cactus garden. There were so many types of cacti - big and small ones, old and younger ones.
After the cactus garden we walked through the city; they had real bars and also had a fire station. You could also see the stables that had real horses, and they all looked nice and healthy. There were people riding the horses too, and the riders had cowboy suits on. They had a small jail with two beds and an office.
We all wanted to look around the zoo so we went first to see the tigers. Then we looked at all types of animals, birds, bears and cats.
But at one point my Granddad did not feel that well, I think he was dehydrated so we had to get him a drink and put him into the shade. Whilst my parents looked after Granddad, my sister and I went to watch the parrot show. The parrots were very clever and although my sister and I could not speak Spanish, we could understand it in a way. The crowd was always clapping and joining in. The parrots could ride a bicycle, count and lots more stuff.
After that we went in the bat cave. We had to walk along a small path under the ground and a recording told us all about the bats. Then almost at the end of the path, the bats were there. They had lots of space and there were only a few bats in there. They all had small, red eyes.
Sadly, we could not go in the pool, because we wanted to see the cowboy show. Before the show started you could look around and see how many people were there - so many people! Everybody stood around the show area. The show was fantastic; it was exiting, fun and very clever. Even some horses were in the show.
I do not know how they trained the horses, but they did it very well. It was like a desert and we did have to buy drinks all the time, but apart from that it was a very nice day out. But I must say it would be too much for a child under 5 years old. Sadly we did not know that they had some white tigers, so we missed them.
The trip back to the hotel was better than getting there. Driving back I could see much more of Spain, I saw some mandarins growing on trees.
All in all we all had a great day, but next time we will leave earlier and maybe take a coach. Also we will either take more drinks or we will go at a different time of year – it was very hot in August!
