Traveling to Combarro undoubtedly involves approaching one of the granaries that populate the edge of the sea, there being about thirty of them. These symbolize its double tradition, peasant and sailor, as well as the great monastery, an important protagonist of the town's history. Visiting Combarro is an excellent choice if one wants to see the true Galician popular tradition taking the form of a town. Built on granite and located next to the sea, the promenade invites to be traveled to the Plaza de Chousa and during the tour one can see Tambo Island in the distance. To know Combarro is to enjoy its architectural heritage, characterized by two main elements: the cruceiros, very widespread by the Galician community, and the granaries, a kind of cupboard where household food was stored. The trips to Combarro take the visitor to its old town, where the Parochial Church of San Roque is located, with a beautiful wooden ceiling and a colorful altarpiece inside. Nearby we find the Benedictine Monastery of San Juan de Poio, declared a Historic-Artistic Monument. It stands out for its church, which expresses a mixture of classicist and baroque forms. Tourism in Combarro is more than walking through the old town. Just five minutes walking to the outskirts we reach the beach of Lourido, known as the Playa del Polvorón, from which you can enjoy truly incredible sunsets.
