In one of the most unusual winter fiestas, coinciding with All Fools' Day (El Día de los Santos Inocentes) a group calling themselves 'Els Enfarinats' (the flour people) took over the town of Ibi (Alicante) yesterday, pelting all-comers with a combination of eggs and flour, later setting off firecrackers.
The 200-year-old tradition allows 'Els Enfarinats' to take over the town and demand special taxes from local businesses that are then donated to charity.
