Editors call for prostitution ban if they are not permitted to publish adverts
NEWSPAPER and magazine editors have called for prostitution to be made illegal if they are to be banned from featuring advertisements for sexual services.
The Association of Editors of Spanish Daily Newspapers (AEDE) says the press has suffered 'serious limitations' in the past few years.
These include restrictions on promoting cigarettes, gambling and alcohol, and food destined for children and young people.
Yesterday, Spain's president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero said adverts for prostitution should be eliminated from the media and his cabinet was studying legal formulae to allow them to place a blanket ban on the publicising of sexual services.
