British armed robber on the run caught in Benidorm bar
A BRITISH fugitive with an international arrest warrant over his head has been caught in Benidorm whilst sitting in a pavement café with two other people of the same nationality.
Identified only as P.T., the detainee is said to have held up a police van at gunpoint, helping two convicted prisoners escape.
He is wanted for illegal possession of firearms and joy-riding, among other offences including fraud and forgery, given that he was using a car and motorbike in the Benidorm area which had been stolen in the UK and bore fake registration numbers.
The two other people he was with in the bar were also arrested, and a raid on a Benidorm apartment led to the seizure of the motorbike and car, plus four mobile telephones and 4,435 euros in cash.
British police say three masked men, including P.T., armed with an axe and a double-barrelled sawn-off shotgun, held up a van in the early hours of April 30 last year when it was transferring convicts from Altcourse prison to Manchester Criminal Court.
The men used a stolen car to block the path of the van, beat up and threatened the driver, and helped two of the prisoners escape.
Shortly afterwards, P.T. stole a car and motorbike and fled to the Costa Blanca, where he has remained in hiding for nearly a year.
