Getafe in mourning as father kills kids then commits suicide
21/03/2018
A FATHER in Getafe who committed suicide after locking his children in his house and setting it on fire drowned them both in the bath beforehand, a post-mortem has revealed.
The Greater Madrid town has declared three official days of mourning for the youngsters, 13-year-old Alejandro, who had cerebral palsy and his sister Marina, aged eight.
José Alberto G.L., 46, had left a suicide note saying he killed them 'so they did not suffer'.
The children's mother, Raquel M.M., confirmed the couple were going through a separation, but said he had no reason to kill them before he threw himself under a train.
There was no question of his losing custody or contact with them, since José Alberto, who did not work, was Alejandro's full-time carer.
