In which part of Spain is the Costa Blanca?
The Costa Blanca is one of the most popular parts of south eastern Spain, stretching along 200 km of Mediterranean coastline from Denia in the north, to Pilar de la Horadada in the south. Its main city is Alicante, which lies approximately 170 km (2 hours by car) south of Valencia, Spain’s third largest city.
What is the Costa Blanca like?
With well over 300 days of sunshine a year and an average temperature of 17 °C the Costa Blanca has one of the most comfortable climates in mainland Spain. It also offers some of the most affordable property for sale. Whether you are looking to buy an apartment on one of its many golf courses, a traditional Spanish villa with sea views in Costa Blanca, or a townhouse in an authentic mountain village, you will be spoilt for choice.
Numerous marinas like the ones in Denia, Moraira, Xàbia/Javea, Altea, Benidorm and Alicante, offer moorings and water sports. For lively nightlife, Benidorm fits the bill. Moraira offers a combination of well-preserved fishing village and international boutiques and cuisine. A quaint old town and trendy beach bars make properties for sale in Xàbia/Javea a very attractive proposition. Alicante offers elegance and style in a small-city atmosphere, whilst the villages of the Jalón Valley offer a peaceful retreat for those looking for a quieter life.
There are direct flights to Alicante airport from well over 100 cities in more than 20 countries. Car travel is extremely comfortable given the extensive network connecting all parts of the country to the south, the west and the north. The Costa Blanca is also well connected with the major cities by bus and train routes. Valencia, Spain’s third-largest city, is under 1h 35 min away by train or just under 2 hours by car.
Numerous international schools are dotted throughout the Costa Blanca, including a Lycée Français, schools teaching in Swedish and Norwegian, and many offering the full British curriculum in a sunny climate.
Costa Blanca property market and price trends
The Costa Blanca is the most popular part of Spain for foreign buyers. Almost 50% of all real estate transactions are carried out by foreign buyers, predominantly northern Europeans. Beachfront villas and apartments for sale in Costa Blanca that can be used all year round are particularly popular, as are mountain village properties.
