HIGH-SPEED rail services between Spain's largest two cities and France have been snapped up by half a million passengers in less than nine months, reveals the transport board.
AVE and long-distance train ticket prices rise
15/02/2017
TRAIN tickets for high-speed AVE links and long-distance connections have gone up in price by 1% with effect from today (Wednesday, February 15) – the first increase in five years.
According to rail board RENFE, only the basic price of these two types of train journey will be affected, with special discounts and offers continuing to apply.
Medium-distance trains – typically covering inter-provincial journeys of up to around 400 or 500 kilometres – and outer suburban lines or Cercanías will remain frozen for at least another year.
These modes of transport are considered 'public services', and are therefore State-subsidised.
On average, the price rise for long-distance and AVE links will be around 48 cents per ticket.
