Ryanair Leeds-Girona flight makes urgent landing due to passenger sickness
05/05/2017
A RYANAIR flight heading for the Costa Brava capital of Girona from Leeds, UK, was forced to make an urgent landing in Paris this morning after a passenger fell ill.
The aircraft had taken off from Leeds-Bradford airport at 08.25 UK time, but announced a need to land imminently as it crossed over Rouen in northern France.
Minutes later, the plane touched down at Paris-Beauvais, as the passenger needed urgent medical attention.
A healthcare team was waiting on the ground, having been requested in advance by the crew.
It was due to arrive in Girona at 11.45, but at the time of publication was believed to still be on the ground.
Ryanair has apologised for any inconvenience and says it expects to take off again 'shortly'.
This is the second urgent landing due to passenger ill health in a week – a flight operated by another aircraft heading to Alicante from Amsterdam sent out a 'state of emergency' signal and subsequently touched down in Paris-Orly so the patient could be given urgent medical assistance.
