Winging it: Bored Ryanair passenger takes emergency exit
03/01/2018
A RYANAIR passenger bored with waiting to get off a plane that had just landed in Málaga announced: “I'm going out via the wing,” and pulled off the emergency exit door.
Flight FR8164 took off from London Stansted nearly an hour late on New Year's Day and, after 30 minutes of hanging around after landing at Costa del Sol airport, the Polish traveller's patience ran out.
Carrying his hand-luggage bag, the passenger, 57, left the aircraft via the emergency door and scrambled across the wing.
He was said to have been sitting on it for some time, perhaps having realised just how far he was from the ground, before the crew convinced him to crawl back into the plane.
They kept him inside until the Local Police arrived, and his first steps on Málaga soil were taken in handcuffs.
A Spanish passenger who spoke to the UK press, named as Fernando del Valle Villalobos – who took the second picture shown here - described the incident as 'surreal'.
“This man decided he wasn't going to wait any longer,” Fernando revealed.
“He activated the emergency door and left, saying, 'I'm going via the wing'.
“It was surreal. He was sat on the wing for quite a while until the crew managed to get him back inside.”
Sources from the Irish low-cost airline said the 'security breach' was against Spanish law and would be handled by authorities in the country.
