Marbella police seek vanished British mother, 35
12/01/2018
A BRITISH mum has been missing for 10 days from her home in Marbella and police are urgently seeking information that may help them find her.
Rebecca M., 35, reported her husband for violent behaviour towards her on New Year's Day and was taken to hospital after police went to her house, but once there, did not wish to make a statement.
Police have the power to press charges even if the victim does not wish to, and the husband, who is not the father of Rebecca's children, was immediately arrested.
But Rebecca did not turn up to the preliminary hearing on January 2 held to decide whether her partner would be remanded in custody.
A neighbour called the National Police that same day to say Rebecca's children, aged eight and 11, were home alone, but officers did not find her on the premises.
The children stayed with a couple who are friends of Rebecca's until her relatives arrived in Marbella from the UK.
Their maternal grandmother, also called Rebecca, is now looking after them.
Police do not consider the missing woman's husband to be behind her disappearance, as he was in custody on the day she was last seen.
They have not ruled out her having fled of her own free will, although officers, friends and family believe it strange that she would have left her children behind in doing so.
Anyone who can supply any information, however apparently trivial, that may be connected with Rebecca M.'s disappearance or lead to possibly finding her should contact their nearest police station or ring the 112 emergency hotline, which has English-speaking operators available upon request.
