KING Felipe VI's annual Christmas Eve speech once again included a covert appeal to secessionist politicians, as well as raising concerns about young adults' struggle to afford housing and violence against women.
'Meeting of minds' between Sánchez and Obama
06/07/2018
PRESIDENT Pedro Sánchez met with former US leader Barack Obama today (Friday) at a hotel in Madrid where the latter was a guest speaker at the Technological Innovation and Circular Economy Summit, organised by the Advanced Leadership Foundation (ALF).
According to Sánchez's cabinet, the meeting was a 'cordial exchange' between 'two people who know a great deal about how a country can be led'.
It was 'brief, but interesting', said Spanish government spokeswoman Isabel Celaá, who is also education minister.
Sánchez later tweeted that he and Obama 'shared the same progressive vision' in terms of climate change, renewable energy, migration and gender equality.
Full details of what they spoke about have not been revealed, but it appears the two left-wing leaders enjoyed a meeting of minds when they went to greet each other in the corridor.
