Spain's first Down's Syndrome model at New York Fashion Week
20/08/2018
SPAIN'S first Down's Syndrome model has realised her lifelong dream of being chosen to take part in New York Fashion Week, due to start on September 8.
Marián Ávila, 20, will be modelling the latest collection by designer Talisha White after wowing the industry with her savoir faire during a casting.
Marián's mentor, the young model Kenzie Dugmore – last year's Miss Citrus State Junior – worked hard on her protégée and it is largely thanks to Kenzie that the Spaniard will be on the catwalk in the Big Apple next month.
Kenzie's 'Miss' crown meant she had to choose two causes for which to be an international ambassador – she opted for bullying and for Down's Syndrome, the latter of which led to her coming into contact with Marián.
And the eyes of the world will be on Marián as she struts her stuff at one of the biggest and most prestigious catwalk shows on earth, in front of celebrities, industry professionals and editors of glossy magazines.
Marián's first parade will be at 11.00 and the second at 20.00 local time in the élite Hotel Park Central 870.
