ELEPHANTS being born in the middle of Spain's third-largest city is not something that happens every day. In fact, until this month, it had never happened before.
Number 10's Larry the Cat famous in Spain
23/11/2018
BRITAIN'S 'First Cat' is the most famous feline in Spain after being featured on an enhanced reality recreation of 10 Downing Street on the country's third channel, Antena 3.
Presenter Vicente Vallés showed the digital mock-up on the Antena 3 news, which included Larry – the official Number 10 rat-catcher – on the doorstep.
Larry, a grey tabby, went viral a few days ago when he asked one of the guards outside the prime minister's official residence to let him in.
Vallés drew viewers' attention to 'a little person at the door' when he read the latest news on Brexit.
“Larry tweeted a picture of the news story last night,” Vallés said on air, “saying he was famous in Spain because he had been included on Antena 3's news programme in its enhanced reality image, and even ended by asking for a representative.”
The tweet by 'Larry the Cat', via his account @Number10cat, read: “Turns out I'm famous in Spain too - @A3Noticias have included me outside their virtual Downing Street. I might need an agent.”
Probably one of Number 10's best-loved residents ever, Larry has already clocked up over 340 retweets and 2,700 'likes', as well as a string of encouraging comments by British social media users.
“Annoyed that they didn't have you as centre stage,” wrote one.
“Your street, your rules,” said another.
One user offered to be Larry's agent.
“I've made some calls. I can get you on the twelve o'clock news in Iceland and the ten o'clock evening news in Serbia.”
Vicente Vallés himself replied to Larry's tweet.
“Larry, you are today the most famous cat in Spain. Congrats!!!” he wrote.
In the first photograph – from Antena 3 and tweeted by Larry the Cat – the fluffy mouser can be seen to the right of the doorstep between two fence railings.
