MasterChef judge's son is Zara's first model with Down Syndrome
07/05/2019
THE 11-YEAR-OLD son of MasterChef judge Samantha Vallejo-Náguera has become Spain's first-ever child model with Down Syndrome, after winning a competition with high-street budget fashion chain Zara.
Patrick (pictured) was born on January 6, 2008 – the day of the Three Kings in Spain, so he has always been nicknamed Roscón, after the giant ring-shaped cakes, known as the roscón de reyes, traditionally eaten on what is essentially the country's second Christmas Day.
The little boy posed for photographs for the Zara Kids online collection alongside his brother Diego, eight, who does not have Down Syndrome.
Sra Vallejo-Náguera shared the above photograph on her Instagram account, @samyspain, and captioned it: “When your son #Rosconforpresident is the first-ever child model with Down Syndrome for Zara's website and you just die with excitement because of what this means. Thanks for loving him so much, #Diegothebest.”
Former MasterChef presenter Eva González shared the post, writing: “Olé my Rosky making history.”
Other famous faces from the talent show on TVE who added enthusiastic messages to the thread included television presenter Sara Carbonero – whose husband, Oporto goalkeeper Iker Casillas has just been discharged from hospital after a heart attack operation – plus MasterChef Celebrity 3 winner, Olympic synchronised swimmer Ona Carbonell, and singer Xuso Jones, one of Ona's fellow contestants.
