President Pedro Sánchez in charity run for gender violence
07/06/2019
ACTING president Pedro Sánchez will take part in a sponsored run this Sunday to raise funds for and awareness of domestic and gender violence.
The fun-run starts at the C/ Alfonso XII interchange in Madrid and continues as far as the Retiro Park, a total of five kilometres.
Participants pay an entry fee and the proceeds of these go towards the cause.
Sánchez is a keen runner, and regularly takes part in charity races such as these – the most recent, however, was in October, because of his heavy schedule as president.
On that occasion, the fun-run was to increase awareness of the need for a work-life balance, particularly for workers with children, and was organised by the Club de las Malas Madres ('The Bad Mothers' Club').
This weekend, the race is staged by the Zinet Media Group and the entry fee is €10.60 a head.
All cash raised will go to an association set up to help victims of domestic, relationship and gender violence.
Secretary of State for gender violence, Rebeca Palomo, will also be taking part.
Entries are open from today (Friday).
Non-runners can show their support via the hashtag #carreracontralaviolenciadegenero.
