Europe, unicorn ice-cream, black flowers...the Ramos-Rubio wedding uncovered
18/06/2019
PICTURES and final details from the 'wedding of the year' between Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos and his reporter wife Pilar Rubio have been released – and with it, even more speculation.
Although it was rumoured Pilar's favourite band, AC/DC, or Aerosmith, would be performing at the reception, in the end it was Europe who did so – for about 40 minutes.
They kicked off with their trademark The Final Countdown, serenading the couple's grand entrance, and they got up onto the stage for the closing track, Carrie.
Pilar's dress, with a plunging V-neck and decorated with multiple crystals, was by Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad, and featured an over-skirt which she took off after the nuptials ahead of the reception.
A half-veil, and a half-updo of braids, completed the picture – but when she went up on stage, Pilar, 41, was wearing a figure-hugging red all-in-one suit and carrying a bunch of black flowers.
Women on the 500-strong guest list were all told not to wear red, white, pink, orange, purple or green, meaning plenty of black, blue and yellow was seen among the crowd.
The exception was Victoria Beckham who, accompanied by her husband and Sergio's ex-Real Madrid colleague David Beckham, wore one of her eponymous creations – in white, with silver detail.
Sergio's livestock farm, La Alegría, where the reception was held, had reportedly been turned into a theme park with various live entertainment and candy-floss stalls.
In addition to 'unicorn' ice-cream, Pilar's black bouquet, and mobile phones being confiscated on the coaches to the reception to prevent anyone taking pictures or videos and releasing them onto social media or to the press, one of the most talked-about features of the wedding was the rumour that much of it may have been paid for by Amazon.
This has not been confirmed, but according to provincial newspaper El Diario de Sevilla, the Real Madrid defender, 33, is working on a project with the world's largest online retailer – a documentary of his life, which will be aired on the firm's video platform Amazon Prime.
The Diario de Sevilla report claims one of the conditions of Ramos' allowing the documentary to be filmed and broadcast was that the multi-million tab for his wedding to Rubio was picked up by Amazon.
Sergio, who became overwhelmed with the emotion and cried at the altar when Niña Pastori sang Ave María as he and Pilar became husband and wife, said he had 'been to many, many weddings', but 'none like this'.
