Galicia fisherman catches river trout weighing nearly four kilos
31/07/2019
AN ANGLER in Galicia has caught a record-sized trout in the river Lor in Sober, in the province of Lugo.
Óscar Rodríguez Prado poses (left) with his catch, a river trout of 3.7 kilos (8.2lb), the weight of which has been confirmed by the town hall.
Although the type of trout in question can reach weights of up to six kilos (13.2lb) and lengths of up to 80 centimetres (2'7”), they typically only measure between 30 and 40 centimetres (1'0” to 1'4”) and weigh between a quarter and a half a kilo (0.55 to 1.1lb).
This means Rodríguez Prado's catch is not unheard of, but extremely rare and fairly exceptional.
Sober town hall has sent him a formal letter of congratulations.
