Drummer Hugo, 2, youngest contestant on Spain's Got Talent, wows judges

Hugo Molina is just two years old and was accompanied by his dad Manuel Jesús when he appeared on stage – and although the audience and judges were expecting to see something cute, they did not bank on the tot's actually being able to play a musical instrument almost perfectly.

Presenter Santi Millán told those present not to clap or cheer when little Hugo emerged onto the scene in case they scared him or put him off, and his father admitted he may be too overwhelmed by the crowds to be able to show off his skills.

But as soon as the backing music started and Manuel Jesús said, “How do we play the drums, Hugo?” the baby began beating a near-perfect Semana Santa, or Easter week fiesta parade march on his instrument.

Madrid-born singer and Got Talent judge Edurne – partner of Manchester United footballer David de Gea and Spain's Eurovision representative in 2015 – said: “My head's still spinning.”

Despite Santi Millán's advice before Hugo appeared on stage, the entire judges' panel and audience gave the toddler a standing ovation, causing his dad to burst into tears.

“It's mind-blowing, I can't believe what I'm seeing,” Edurne said, and co-judge Risto Mejide added: “He kept the rhythm the whole time and that just shows his talent is innate. You're either born to do this or you're not.”

Notoriously the 'bad cop' judge of the show, Risto smiling on set is rare, but he broke into a huge grin as he witnessed Hugo's performance.

The other judges on the popular Telecinco show, Paz Padilla and Dani Martínez, were also in raptures, and the whole team gave an unqualified 'yes' to Hugo's staying in the competition.
