Castilléjar is a lovely, unspoilt village with beautiful surrounding scenery, including the spectacular badlands, the Jabalcón mountain, and the Baza and Granada mountain ranges. It has all the usual facilities, as well as a market on Saturday mornings.

There is a large open-air swimming pool in the adjoining hamlet of Los Olivos (5 minutes by car), open during the summer months. A great place for outdoor activities, art, and photography.

It is around 1 h 30 to the coast and about 40 minutes (45 km) from the beautiful Lake Negratin, which has beach areas.

The nearest airport is Granada, approximately 1 h 35 by car (125 km), then Murcia 1 h 55 (168 km), Almería 2 h (188 km), Alicante 2 h 40 (240 km), and lastly Málaga 2 h 40 (247 km).
