Cales de Mallorca is located on the east coast roughly halfway between Porto Cristo and Portocolom. The town center is located on a limestone rock formation, which is traversed by several caves at sea level.
The town's infrastructure is primarily designed for tourism. There are various hotel and apartment complexes as well as individual holiday homes and apartments. The center of Calas de Mallorca is affectionately known as the “Centro Comercial” (shopping center).
This is the area of the town that has a wide range of entertainment options with various bars and restaurants, shopping opportunities, and leisure activities such as mini golf.
The town's administrative center offers public services such as a post office, a local police station, a tourist information center, and a doctor's surgery.
With Cala Domingo Gran, Cala Domingo Petits, and Cala Antena, the town has three large sandy beach bays. All three bays are known for their excellent bathing water quality. A well-paved coastal path connects Cala Domingo Gran with Cala Antena, providing a breathtaking sea view walk.
This area is considered the region of Mallorca with the most caves and is popular for diving and snorkeling. Many of the caves in this area have not yet been explored.
The season in Calas de Mallorca usually starts in April and ends at the end of October. In the winter months most hotels, restaurants, and shops are closed, however, daily requirements are available in Portocolom about 8 km away.
The airport is only 70 kilometers away and is easily accessible via the highway between Manacor and Palma.
