Description
They say that, after sailing across all the oceans of the world, the legendary Dutch captain Arjen van Deursen decided to anchor his life in a place that, in some way, brought together every landscape he had loved: the endless sea, the silent mountain, and a light that seemed written by sailors. That place was Bellamar, in Castelldefels.
Welcome to Blauwe Horizon. Here he found this unique home of 170 m², located in one of the most exclusive areas of the Mediterranean, where nature embraces the architecture and each sunrise brings back the luminous edge of an open horizon. As if it were the refuge of a great navigator, Arjen used to say that a true sailor can only live in a home that has views of departure and return.
From its 40 m² terrace, everything of Castelldefels unfolds before your eyes—the sea at its fullest—and, at the rear, direct access to the Garraf Natural Park, a secret door to trails of ancient explorers. The spacious living room, with direct access to the terrace, was his land observatory. There he wrote in his notebooks while the light changed, just as it did in the command bridges of his ships.
The bright, open kitchen, facing the blue horizon, reminded him of early mornings aboard the Zeemeeuw, where he would make strong coffee while the crew was still asleep. We continue with the bedrooms. Five, three of them doubles, designed for travelers. Arjen often welcomed family sailors and old friends from distant ports, and he gave them rooms where the calm of the surroundings made even the saltiest men rest deeply.
In total, the apartment has 2 full bathrooms and 1 guest toilet, arranged with the same functional logic he appreciated so much in a fine ship. In the Blauwe Horizon apartment, there is a hidden heart where one of the captain’s favorite spots is kept: a 25 m² cellar/event room. There he would relate impossible stories: storms in Cape Horn, skies that seemed to pour over the Baltic, sunsets in New Zealand. The walls still seem to hold the echo of his laughter when he remembered that “every voyage ends at a table surrounded by people.”
As home-defining details, the apartment includes an elevator, parquet floors, a separate laundry room, and parking for 2 cars. As for the community, we could say it is worthy of a great captain: here there is a large swimming pool with panoramic views, where he used to float, watching the clouds.
