Description
We are looking for a highly organised, self-motivated, individual with a legal background to lead our managed legal services department. This department is a key part of our debt recovery service offering – providing our clients with a managed escalation to legal action if efforts at amicable collections prove unsuccessful.
You will handle a caseload of pre-action and litigated matters as well as provide the business with general support across client contracts and other legal matters.
You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders and decision-makers, so confidence, organisation, and a positive, professional attitude are key. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who’s keen to learn and use their initiative. The right candidate will have the opportunity to develop the role into a ‘Head of Legal’ position which would sit within the management team. Some travel will be required.
Key responsibilities
- In depth review of debt files which reach end of amicable debt collection process to ascertain potential next steps.
- Undertaking of pre-action steps including issuing of Letter Before Action
- Working with legal partners to secure quotes for escalation to localised debt recovery support through to legal action.
- Liaising with customers and third-parties, to include solicitors and the court, to assist with the progress of debt through pre-legal and legal recovery action.
- Collation of data and documentation at all stages of a case’s progression through Legal.
- Input and management of data into Case Management Systems
- Assist with the issue of Court Action and taking all steps up to and including enforcement.
- Assist with the preparation and drafting of court documentation from issue, to include when required statements of case, witness statements, disclosure statements and bundles.
- Delivery of legal collection solutions and support a win/win culture from within.
- Management of our client contract process including liaison with clients and our legal teams, agreement and drafting of amendments and maintenance of accurate data base of all current contracts.
- Working in conjunction with our debt team to maintain successful client relationships
- Overseeing the third-party relationships with our legal partners to ensure we deliver our clients a best-in-market service.
- Monitoring the progression of cases and reporting back to our clients.
- Managing the legal sales and purchase ledger.
- Ensuring that the legal department is run as a positive revenue centre.
If you have what it takes you could be just what we’re looking for:
- Experience working as a Paralegal or as part of a legal team looking for an opportunity to diversify whilst still using your legal know-how.
- Ambitious – Keen to take ownership and grow the legal department for a rapidly growing company.
- Confident – you love talking to people and building new relationships.
- Team player – you’re happy to help a fellow colleague.
- Motivated – you have a can-do attitude and love to learn.
- Goal orientated – you love hitting and exceeding targets.
- Friendly – you’re always polite and speak to people with respect.
