Helisureste, the Alicante-based company that owns the helicopter admitted that the craft had been involved in a crash in the Province in 1998.
The company admitted that it did not own the helicopter at the time, and the incident occurred when it belonged to the Diputacion of Alicante and was involved in fighting a fire in July of 1998. At that time, it collided with some cables and crashed into a mountainside, losing its tail cone.
Meanwhile, in Madrid yesterday, broadcaster Tele5 transmitted videotape yesterday that appeared to show two objects hitting the craft moments before the crash. The photo was taken by a cameraman for Localia Mostoles TV, and later sold to the EFE press agency.
