It was announced yesterday that the Palau in Altea is to close for two weeks as a result of storm damage.
The recent high winds, that on occasions reached 100kms an hour succeeded in breaking a huge panel of 6mm thick glass that was in one of the Palau’s observation areas, offering views over Altea Bay.
The entry of the wind inside the building also produced a chimney effect that sucked out a skylight and caused more damage to the roof and parts of the interior.
Also in Altea, the winds blew over an electricity tension tower close to a supermarket in the Mascarat area, but no injuries were reported and no other damage was caused.
