The owners of six homes in Villamarxant found themselves in the middle of a torrent yesterday morning following the recent heavy rains. Members of the local police force arrived at the scene, but could do nothing to help other than to advise the homeowners to "wait it out."
Several towns and villages in the province of Castellon continue to be buffeted by the bad weather and tremendous rainfall, but this is expected to ease somewhat during today.
Yesterday, the rainfall in Alicante province was greater in just 24 hours than it had been over the last six months.
Meanwhile, it was also revealed that at least 3,500 businesses have been affected by flooding or power cuts, which has hit restaurants, where in one case alone, some 3,000 euros worth of food had to be thrown out.
