Police believe that a German tourist who died after being stabbed through the chest during the early hours of this morning in the Playa del Inglés resort in the south of the island of Gran Canaria, may have been the victim of a gang of muggers.
The attack took place at around 5am near the Hotel Rondo on the calle Timple where the 44 year old man was staying.
According to first reports, the murder weapon has not yet been found, no arrests have been made, and neither the reason for the attack, nor the exact number of people involved, is known at this stage.
